Baltic Sea Region

From 2000 through 2004, FHI managed the IMPACT Project in the Baltic Sea region, helping local and regional governments and nongovernmental organizations strengthen their HIV/AIDS/STI prevention programs.

Collaborating with the Ministries of Health and local partners in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and in the cities of St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad, FHI developed and supported a regional advisory committee and the Baltic Sea Network of Excellence. These organizations fostered program coordination across the region and helped local partners build their technical capacity to implement HIV/AIDS programs.

Through collaborative technical, programmatic, and organizational workshops and educational trainings at local and regional levels, FHI responded to urgent national priorities related to sex workers, injection drug users and youth.
