From 2001–2006, FHI managed the IMPACT Project in St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Guyana, the Bahamas, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago. Working with national AIDS control programs, NGOs, and local and regional partners, FHI built local capacity to deliver sustainable HIV/AIDS prevention and care programs, increased the quality of behavior change communication activities, and decreased stigma and discrimination.

FHI established and strengthened NGO networks, providing training, technical assistance, and small grants to implement HIV/AIDS-related activities.
