JUNE 2009 — In just three years, the number of people in Malawi tested for HIV has increased nearly fourfold, from 400,000 in 2005 to 1.5 million in 2008. HIV counseling and testing is a priority for the government of Malawi. Meet Philip Moses, one of the driving forces behind the country's success in this area. 
MARCH 2009 — 100 caregivers in Malawi's Salima District can now move more quickly from one place and one child to another and reach more children with the support they need thanks to a donation of bicycles from The Funders' Collaborative for Children. FHI is working with FCFC to strengthen the provision of comprehensive care and support services for the district's nearly 30,000 orphans and other vulnerable children. 
MARCH 2009 — HIV/TB co-infection is a serious problem in Malawi and other countries in sub-Saharan Africa, where TB ranks as a leading cause of death among people living with HIV. Family Health International is working to increase intensified TB case-finding through the USAID-funded TB CAP project, engaging volunteers in carefully recorded sputum collection, TB screening, and referrals to diagnosis and treatment.
