International leadership in HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and mitigation

Since forming our first AIDS Task Force in 1986, FHI has worked to address the needs of communities and countries affected by HIV/AIDS (view timeline of FHI's HIV/AIDS work).

We provide state-of-the-art interventions to identify what is needed, tailor programs to local needs, and advocate for compassionate, realistic and appropriately resourced responses.

Through our HIV/AIDS programs, we help countries and communities to:

• Build strong infrastructure
• Improve care and access to treatment
• Maximize resources
• Prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission
• Protect and support children
• Monitor and evaluate programs

Countries where we work: More than 800 staff implement our HIV/AIDS programs in more than 60 countries throughout the developing world.

HIV/AIDS projects: We implement our HIV/AIDS efforts through a series of project activities.

Tools for HIV prevention and care: These brief documents feature concise, regularly updated overviews of specific topics and "best practices" for implementing HIV/AIDS programs.

Publications: Generating and disseminating information through a variety of print and electronic tools is at the heart of our work.

Center for Consulting Services: FHI provides a wide range of services that support, monitor, and document programs relating to HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases, advancing global development and extending health and hope to vulnerable people worldwide.
