JULY 2007 — Legal Education and Will Writing, published by the Global HIV/AIDS Initiative Nigeria, is an easy-to-use manual for the staff of civil society organizations and others who work to benefit and protect the rights of orphans and vulnerable children and those living with or affected by HIV. In addition to encouraging succession planning, providing practical tips on will writing, and promoting community awareness of and support for fundamental legal and human rights, the manual includes basic facts on the Nigerian Constitution, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Child's Right Act. The manual also offers guidance on how to harness critical resources to defend and protect the property and other rights of orphans, widows, and other vulnerable persons. It is written in simple language, and takes into account different cultural backgrounds and state laws.
