MARCH 2009 — The Nigerian HIV prevalence peaked at 5.8% in 2001. The following year national agencies responsible for coordinating the multi-sectoral response (NACA) identified the need for a robust and standardized monitoring and evaluation framework. In July 2008, the FHI co-managed Strengthening Nigeria's Response to HIV/AIDS (SNR) program supported a monitoring and evaluation workshop, structuring content from an Output to Purpose Review from DFID and a national operational plan from the Nigeria national response information management system (NNRIMS). The Roadmap Towards Repositioning the HIV/AIDS M&E System in Nigeria documents the workshop and is intended to guide stakeholders toward a strengthened national HIV/AIDS monitoring and evaluation system.
